A million Questions and Not a single Answer

Would you recognize my voice
If you closed your eyes?
Hell,
With your ears plugged tight-
Would you be able to hear
How quickly my heart beats
Whenever you say my name?
Would you be able to hear me
Whisper your name
In the darkest of nights?

Would you crave my touch
When I’m halfway across the world?
Would you be the one to die first
When you heard of my dying?
Would you reach for my hand
Even if I didn’t reach for it first?

Would you remember ten years from now
My particular liking
For Strawberry Cream Cake?
Would you remember
The days when grades didn’t matter
And the fleeting romance we once shared
Under the snow of Mountains
In the November of our first
Elementary
meeting?

If I told you that I was over it
Would you care?
Will you ever come to love me, feel for me-
Even barely as much as I do for you?
If I asked you these questions today, my pulse reaching a tempo and a crescendo
That outshadows any concerto-
Would you give me the answer I want?
Would you bother to
Answer at all?
Or will you leave me with silence
As we stare into each other’s eyes, waiting
For one to break their glance?
