Call and Response

It’s third period
Art.
And I’m not supposed to be on my phone.
But because of You
I’m breaking the rules.
Hell, I even broke
The rules I set for myself,
The rule to never fall
in Love again
Because it only brings Pain.

But the thing is, you see-
It’s not directly for you.
I’m here venting
Because of what you do to me.
I’m dreading every day without you
because while I wish to fall out of Love with you
A tiny part of me fights back
And battle-worn,
I give in to the Oligarchy.

If I called out your name
In the deserted hallways
With shabby posters hanging limp
By single pieces of cheap blue tape
Would you send your reply?
And if I don’t call in the first place
Would you come up and speak
With the fervor that you speak to Her with?
Would we
Go back to where we’ve been?
