Why We Broke Up

I think there’s more to Love than
Promises and chemistry.
There’s a thing
And it’s just a feeling
But it’s that gut feeling you get,
That feeling that lets you know
Wrong from right.
I guess if we open doors and let the sunlight in,
At one point
Or another,
We will be able to see the truth
All lit up
From the light.
And that day, my dear
Is when I realized it,
And that
Is why we broke up.

And through all your empty kisses
I’ve just been left a ghost
Waiting for the balloons to keep me afloat,
The balloons that come as a complimentary gift
To empty promises.
But one by one
We run out of fuel for the fire-
And that,
Is why we broke up.
