If You Love Me, If You Have Ever Loved Me

I need you to do one last thing
And leave me with words that aren’t yours.
If you love me,
If you ever had,
Tell me one lie that will
Leave me wounded but recovering.
Tell me that you never loved me
And make this just a little easier,
So that the last words that I’ll hold on to will be ones
That will help me to let go.

If you love me,
If you ever had,
Take back the pages
And rewrite the history of us.
Tell me that I never mattered
And that I never will,
Leave me with words so bitter
I have no choice to seek honey
To stop the pain.

We are nothing but imagination,
An illusion given to hurt
And taken to heal.
We were nothing but fake
And a pretentious game,
Tell me all of this.
