Kilometer

I drive through my old town
And pass fields of fertilizer
And shriveled grapes.
How much has changed in five years?
No girl
Ever steps on the same plot of soil
Twice.

Oranges that used to burst from the seams
Merely hang limp and fallen,
Wasted like the years I spent
Apart from you.
