You Might Be Gone, But My Feelings For You Aren’t

You took the beat up car
We used to share drinks in every summer
And you drove away,
Leaving me in the dust
With nothing but the other
Set of keys.
If I could relive one day of my life
It would be the day we
Broke curfew and snuck out
On to the roof of your uncle’s house
Where we watched the meteors streak
Through the sky.

That night breaks my heart
Because it was then that I should’ve known that
Like the meteors in the sky,
Good times are never meant to last.

Meteors aren’t shooting stars,
And I’m a million light-years away from you now,
Wherever you are,
Or I might as well be.
But this summer,
With every passing plane in the sky
I’ll remember your name
And spell it out
With the constellations.
