Looking Good

As a junior in high school, I know how much it means to “look good”. After all, I hear it every day. From “you want to look as good as possible for your prospective colleges” to “internships look good on résumés”, everything these days seems to be about “looking good”.

Left and right, all I know is that more than ever, how others perceive us has been affecting our personal lives and decisions. I need to take X amount of AP classes to look good. I need to say this and that in my personal essay to look good. Basically, who I am doesn’t really matter- as long as I look good.

Maybe we have focused so much on simply looking good, we have forgotten how to be good.
