Wings

Do you ever wonder why
She grew wings?
Maybe it was so that
She
Could fly away from you,
With wings of
Feather and foam,
Light as the sorrows
That only seraphim know.

And when she left
Did you ever feel liks something
Began to go missing from you?
Like untied shoelaces
And a one by one cube
From the middle of your heart,
Did you never realize
That things stopped being quite right
From the day she started to fly,
Leaving you behind?

The heart will remember
What the mind has long forgot.
And like the scent of jasmines from last summer,
The only thing she leaves behind
Is the last syllable
Of her first name.

Wings
