Apologies (But Not Really)

I heard
Last Homecoming Saturday
You got out
And took shots with
Friend that you don’t even have.

I misjudged who you were,
Or maybe you’ve just changed.
They say
“Never meet your hero”,
But for me,
I never should’ve looked an old flame
In the eyes.

I hope the alcohol tasted
As bitter as I feel now.
You blamed me for
Having little faith in you,
But looking back,
That judgement was correct.
The last little bit of faith I had for you
Left me
In the same way
You did.
